A few thoughts that have been rattling around in my mind lately from the book of Acts lately…
- The book of Acts is disturbing for those who desire comfort and status quo…God has never embraced either…neither should we.
- In Acts 1:8 Jesus said THE distinguishing mark of the Holy Spirit would be a desire to take the Gospel to the rest of the world. Seriously, look at it…when the Holy Spirit falls He said THEN we would be His witnesses.
- This sort of blows the, “we are just going to be deep people who love Scripture but not people” churches completely out of the water!
- In Acts 1:21-26 the Apostles were setting in another apostle to replace Judas Iscariot. In reading this I realized they came together, they prayed, they took action. (Are we taking too much time to process instead of coming together, praying, and doing something!)
- The passages in Acts 2:42-47 is one of my favorite in the whole Bible. The people of the early church spent day by day continuing with one mind, breaking bread together, and taking meals together with gladness and sincerety of heart. It states they were praising God and having favor with all the people. Then in verse 47 it states that the Lord was adding to their numbers daily.
- The above passage makes me wonder why we are astonished that the Lord is not adding to our numbers daily! (The Church in America is doing some of these things, but we have not been able to get them all together in a single body)
- In Acts 3 we are encouraged to repent and return, so that are sins will be wiped away, in order that the times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.
- Acts 4:13 is one amazing scripture. It proves that God is looking for ordinary people like you and me to lead His church and see His Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven.
I hope you enjoyed my quick thoughts on my recent ponderings over the Book of Acts. These are my thoughts on the random things I wrote down as I read through it . I will post some more about Acts in a few days!
